Biography:

Roseanne Morton, born in 1984 in Atneltye (Boundary Bore) within the Utopia region, is an artist whose work is deeply rooted in her family's legacy and cultural heritage. The daughter of the late Gracie Morton and part of the renowned Bird Petyarre family, she carries forward the Dreaming stories passed down through generations, especially the Anwekety (Bush Plum) Dreaming.

Roseanne learned the art of painting from her mother and paints the Bush Plum story with intricate dot techniques that evoke a vivid sense of the landscape. Her paintings represent the ripening stages of the bush plum, with dots that create a three-dimensional effect, almost bringing the fruit to life on the canvas. The diagonal lines that run through her work trace the paths walked by the women who gather the plums, meeting at the centre to share in the nourishment and spirit of the fruit. These paintings not only tell the story of the plant but also connect to the songs, ceremonies, and traditions that honour it.
