Kudditji Kngwarreye (1938 – 23 January 2017), affectionately known as "Goob," was a distinguished Australian Aboriginal artist from the Utopia community in the Northern Territory. As a brother (through kinship) to the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Kudditji played a pivotal role in shaping contemporary Indigenous Australian art.

Life and Cultural Heritage: Born and raised in the Anmatyerre language group at Alhalkere in the Utopia community, Kudditji had a traditional bush upbringing. He worked as a stockman and mine worker, contributing to the land and becoming a custodian of significant Dreamings and ceremonial sites in Utopia.

Artistic Journey: Kudditji commenced his artistic journey around 1986, drawing inspiration from the success of Albert Namatjira. Over the years, his artwork evolved into a unique and mesmerizing exploration of Dreamings, country, and tradition. His abstract imagery, bold use of color, and intuitive interplay with space and form distinguished him in the Aboriginal art scene.

Artistic Evolution: His spatial, painterly compositions, often likened to Rothko's work, showcased an unparalleled Australian voice.
