Jessie Bird Ngale, oldest daughter of renowned artist Lindsay Bird Mpetyane was born in 1979 in the Northern Territory. Jessie has been painting since a young age, encouraged to assist other family members with their work and learning from them as she painted.

Jessie paintings depict stories from Ilkawerne Country and often include the story of “Alpar” the rat-tail goosefoot or green crumbweed plant. A small sticky herb that smells heavily of citrus.
